2013 Annual Conference:
The Practice of Discipleship
in the Gospel of Mark

June 21-23, 2013

Celebration Center
Aliquippa, PA

St. Mark’s gospel is the first written gospel and, as such, the most bare bones, even “raw” telling of the Jesus story. After introducing the gospel, we will explore the Evangelist’s view of discipleship as it relates to Jesus’ radical teaching about the individual’s life in community. What does it mean for our wallets, bodies and family life to be called a disciple?

Begins with Evening Prayer, 5:30 pm on Friday. 1st session: 7:30 pm.
Ends with lunch on Sunday.

Speaker: The Reverend Bonnie Thurston, Ph.D.
Bonnie has written or edited 17 theological books and many articles, has contributed to reference works in New Testament and taught at the university level for 30 years. In 2002 she resigned from a NT chair and professorship at Pittsburgh Theological Seminary and lives as a solitary near Wheeling, WV.
